But were not complaining! Monday February 5 we had a bowling match with L. Blaikie achieving 116 pts. During the evening many residents were treated to a great time with some Nite Entertainment. The follow- ing afternoon there was a har- monious sing-song and after- wards we were busy making valentines. Wednesday brought with it many activities. First there was a Sweetheart Quiz featuring unscrambled words, famous couples and how many words out of Valentine. Then there was In- active Games for those residents that are unable to attend our dai- BONDED ly activities. Thirdly we had a silk flower arrangement demonstra- tion given by Connie. The next afternoon was a busy craft and woodworking session. Friday arrived and we held a "Hit the Darts' contest. Ray Seagar won with 150 points. Sweetheart week began Mon- day February 12 with a games day. Many participated in clothes pin drop, gather up the clothes pins, clown toss and word games. The next morning the grade 1's from R.H. Cornish paid us a delightful visit and sang to us. They also handed out some beautiful hand-made Valentines. Other activities going on throughout the day were baking, sing-song and church. Upon our arrival we were well entertained by some joyous singers. Thursday arrived and we had our annual Valentines Box Social. Everyone was divided into pairs to enjoy their box lunch. A roman- tic story on Romeo and Juliet was read .to everyone. Excitement was then flowing through the air as we had our Elimination Draw. Later in the evening a Love Bingo was featured. Sweetheart Week ended with our Valentines Party. Archie Walker provided us with some delightful singing while we all devoured our delicious Valen- tine cupcakes. The winner for Sweetheart of the Week was presented with their special award. Birthday wishes are being sent out to Mr. Larry Glasgow (22) and Mrs. Clara Ray (Mar. 4). The residents and staff extend a warm welcome to Mrs. Pearl Dobson (from Port Perry), Mr. Arthur Newman (from Seagrave) and to Ms. Phyllis Hamilton (from P.P. Villa), The nursing home residents and staff send their sincerest sym- pathy to the family and friends of Mr. Percy Jeffrey who passed away quietly on -Monday February 12. Don't forget to keep in mind that our Spring Bazaar is slated for May 5. Mark it on your calendar. Beach party, movie mania part of March break program Y.M.C.A. Durham Region has planned a variety of new ac- tivities and theme days for a great March Break Program this year. The fun begins on Monday March 12 when children ages 6-12 are invited to a "Beach Party" that includes swimming at Ux- pool, doing crafts and games too. On Tuesday March 13 it is "Movie Mania' where the children will dress up as Movie Stars, play movie games and watch movies all day. Wednesday March 14 is "Ex- ploring Science" which involves an exciting trip to the Ontario, Science Centre. Thursday March 15is '"'Bowlarama," children will play games, make crafts and spend the afternoon at Centennial Lanes. Friday March 16 wraps up the week with "Music of Today'" with dress-up Rock Stars, drama games and "make-able musical instruments." The activities run daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with extended hours available at an extra cost. Children should bring lunch each day. Cornish Public School and Immaculate Conception Catholic Separate School got together for a pizza party and beach volleyball game. The students dressed in their cool- est sports attire in an attempt to beat the winter blahs. Be- low, a student gets ready to bump the beach volleyball back over the net.
