The U.C.W. meeting on Wednesday evening was held in the lower room at the Communi- ty Center due to the flooding at the church. Eighteen ladies attended. Following all that balmy weather last week, now we have to contend with snow once again. I guess we all knew it was too good to last, but didn't we all enjoy every minute of it? Anyway, Tuesday is the first day of Spring so it won't be much longer before we once again can put away the winter clothes. At the United Church this week: Thursday is choir practice at the Sobil home. Friday is the Youth Group's evening of mystery to be held at the Arnold Kerry home at 8 pm.. Church and Sunday School will be held in Epsom Church this coming Sunday at 11:15 a.m.. There were 10 tables of euchre played in the Hall last Friday evening. Winners were Ladies 1st Vera Brown, 2nd Jean Pogue and 3rd Annie Bowman. Men's 1st Martin Gall, 2nd Stan Beach and 3rd Les Meyers. Freeze-out win- ners were George and Rachel Harper, Martin Gall and Art Richardson were second. Winners of the lucky draws were Bruce Houghland, Grace Bassant, and Ruth Beach. There will be another euchre on March 30. Georgina Sutcliffe has asked that I put out a plea for volunteer Cancer canvassers in this area to help make her job a little easier. Several are needed so please give her a call at 985-2745. The Utica Day Care has plann- ed a special Hawaii Day for this Friday with an indoor pool party, luau and special dress. Sounds like fun for the kids. Mrs. Crosier accompanied Jean and Wally Scott of London to a reception in Willowdale in honor Residents play"Guess by Wendy Clark Monday and Tuesday March 5, and 6, the nursing home spon- sored a quilting bee. Much ap- preciation to those from the com- munity who gave us 'a helping hand. Bowling scorers on Monday resulted in B. Ayers achieving top position with 98 points. Our friends from Port Hope Nursing Home paid us a visit on March 7. They joined us for a delicious lunch and then a quiz. Special thank you to Claire Whitter for playing the piano. Crafts and woodworking took place the next day with many items on the go. Friday we had a Good Luck Quiz which many residents took part in. Another great week began with a manicure session on Monday March 12. The next day our friends from Sunnycrest N.H. stopped by for an afternoon visit. We organized as one group and made some silk scarfs and had a oF of this Area! ATTENTION: Residents oF demonstration on making earr- ings and t-shirt painting. We then had a variety of games ranging from card elimination to "Guess the Legs" Wednesday we took part in an Irish discussion and quiz. Our St. Patricks party was held alittle early. Entertainment was provided by Gord Prentice and band, along with some square dancers. Best green outfit awards were given to L. Parrott and J. Tuck. Everyone particularly en- joyed the many delicious treats and punch. Another week ended with a British Day. In the morn- ing we watched a movie called "This England" which took us on a scenic tour of Britain. In the afternoon we had an Old English Tea in celebration of Mrs. Maud Edmonds 100th birthday. Some of those who enjoyed the March Break away were Jane and Eric Sobil and children in Myrtle Beach; Johanna Urech holidayed in the Florida Keys; Mr. and Mrs. John Jefferson (on the Mason farm) were in the Caribbean. Hillis and Carol Wilbur, Lee Wilbur and Lisa Lown spent the weekend in Toronto and enjoyed the Wizard of Oz at the Elgin Theatre in celebration of Lee, Lisa and Carol's birthdays. Birth- day greetings to all of you, especially Carol who has reached a milestone. Carol is X years younger than me, so I always know her age. Bill and I were in View Lake on Sunday celebrating our children's birthdays. Charlie and Dorothy were both March babies. I'm sorry to report that Mrs. Irene Fielding has been ill this past week.
