Welcome Home A warm welcome home to Don ~ & Norma Frew, from their winter vacation in Lakeland, Florida. It has been cold and stormy since they arrived home, but a nice change is in the offing; so welcome home folks! Good to see you! Birthday Celebrations Cliff Davis, Hyde House, Scugog Point Road, had a plea- sant birthday on April 6, with his family around him to make it special! All the best to Cliff for many more happy birthdays. A delightful birthday party was hosted by Neta Fish, Blackstock, when grandson Keith Bannister of Peterborough, celebrated just recently. Lots of goodies, a special cake and gifts, were the order of the day. Our best to Keith for many more. Nestleton Women's Institute . Annual Meeting The lovely home of Neta Fish was the setting for the April meeting of Nestleton Women's In- stitute." Although, a very wintry afternoon; everyone was made most welcome, 'by the hostess; especially Irene McKee, after her long convalescence. The opening Ode and Collect were followed by a poem 'Springtime' by Neta and minutes were approved and treasurer's report; closed off the year end finances. The fee sheet had been taken care of, for 1990-91, and a goodly amount of Pennies for Friendship; for the International work; will be presented at the District Annual in May. Rika Wygerde reported the District Executive meeting was held at the District President Mrs. Cathcart's home in Kendal and plans are underway for the Annual meeting with Newtonville as the hostess Branch. A re-cycling bag in royal blue and gold (W.I. colours) was of- fered to members and one each for the president & secretary; will be purchased from Branch funds. Others were ordered by the members. Roll call - payment of dues; and 'A money saving hint" followed by the motto by Rika - "Enthusiasm like measles is highly contagious."" Cor- respondence included an invita- tion to Bowmanville Women's In- stitute 90th anniversary, June 5. Cards were signed for absent members Bertha McLaughlin and Norma Frew. Members repeated "An Institute Prayer" (tune - Bless This House) supplied by Gwen Malcolm. The Annual meeting followed the regular meeting. Last year's minutes were read, and Rika reported a good balance on hand; when closing the books. Auditing had been attended to. All reports were presented. Election chairperson Winnifred Davison & election secretary Gwen Malcolm were in charge of the election & installation of officers; as prepared by the Nominating com- mittee chairman Bertha McLaughlin. Neta Fish com- pleted the meeting closing with the Queen and Institute Grace. Neta was assisted with the lunch by Elsie Bye & Rika Wygerde; and the vote of thanks to retiring Officers and hostess was given by Rika - the incoming President. Next meeting will be a plant & baked goods auction to be held at the Nestleton Community Centre, on May 2 at 1:30 p.m. Resolutions convener in charge.
