Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Elmer Huggins and family on the passing of Elmer on the weekend. Elmer was very well known in rabbit breeding circles. Local members of the Durham East Junior Farmers are busy preparing for a Junior Farmers Dance at the Blackstock Recrea- tion Centre on Friday evening with music by Ross Jackman. A Century farm just west of Blackstock will be stopping operation with the auction sale ot the farm equipment and stock of Bill and Jean Ferguson. They are building a new home on the Quarterline. The farm has been sold to Mr. and Mrs. Steve Grove. Flora Samells attended a bridal shower in honour of her grand daughter Carol on Friday evening. The stew supper on Saturday evening at the Blackstock United Church was a fine success with a large number of patrons enjoying a delicious supper. Two babies were baptised at St. John's Anglican Church on Sun- day, April 22. Danya Nicole Bar- ton daughter of Gregg and Bren- da Barton, sister of Kyle. Her Godparents were Paul and Jen- nifer Shield and her sponsor was Marjorie Green. Also attending were grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Norman Barton of Whitby, Rick, Sharon and Rayanne Lees, Oshawa, Catlyn Shields, David Barton and son Adam. Daniel Robert Bull son of Rev. Charles and Michelle Bull, brother of Joanna was also bap- tized. His godparents were Ivan and Dawn Dyer and Lesley Johnston Daniel was sponsored by Wendy Bently. Also attending were Rev. and Mrs. Edgar Bull of Toronto. Better health is wished for Frank Hoskin who is a patient in Port Perry Hospital. Thursday evening this week is certainly a busy day. C.H.S. is holding its Musicfeast as a fun- draiser for the trip to Winnipeg to Musicfest. This will be at the Rec Centre. The C.H.S. students held a successful dance-a-thon which the community supported well. Your support is appreciated. On Thursday the District 4 workshop meeting will be at Lindsay. On Sunday morning, May 6 the organists and choir of Newton- brook United Church, Willowdale, will be visiting Greenbank congregation. Greenbank Junior Choir prac- tices will begin after school on April 25 to prepare music for our Sunday School Anniversary Ser- vice of worship on June 3. Sympathy to the Midgley fami- ly in the death of a loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, Mrs. McCartney. Glad to see the Fred Phoenix's and Art Couves' home safely from Florida. The Cookies have arrived! The biggest fundraising day for our area Pathfinders, Girl Guides and Brownies will be Saturday, April 28. Girls from six to fifteen are in- volved in this fundraiser. You'll recognize them by their Guiding Uniform and their guiding smile. Cookies sell for $2.25 per box. So, when these girls come a knocking, please "be prepared' and support the guiding movement. Ladies prizes went to Doris Evans, Doris Hill and Shirley Leask. Lucky men were Neil Hunter, Rod Foster and Norma Doble. Door prize was won by Barbara Ward. There will ' be another one on May 18 - mark your calendars and come on out and join in the fun. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shadlock of Unionville and Anne Wills had dinner on Sunday with the McKeans. The W.1. meeting will be held April 25 at Greenbank Church at 2 p.m. It is our annual meeting and the 4-H Club members are holding a bake sale as their achievement day. Mothers and friends welcome.
