Cawker school The characters in one of the best known and most loveable cartoons of all time will come to life this week on the stage at Cawker Public School in Port Perry. Charlie Brown, Lucy, Snoopy, Linus and the rest of the "Peanuts" gang will be pre- sented in a musical by the dra- ma students at the school. "You're a Good Man, Char- lie Brown," will be staged on Wednesday and Thursday evenings (June 21 and 22) with curtain for both shows at 7:30. This is the first production from the Cawker Drama Club and director Susan Reed says the cast has been hard at work for the last six weeks. Essentially, it's a day in the life of Charlie Brown, and the production will include some 15 musical numbers. Ms. Reed is directing the Rail group (From page 1) Mr. Pagnuelo, who lives south of Little Britain, and used to ride the VIA train from Myr- tle each day to his job in Toron- to, became actively involved in the fight to retain commuter rail service when the federal government announced the VIA cut-backs last year. He told the Star in a recent interview, that from a philo- sophical point of view, he would prefex to see the private sector operate commuter service (rather than GO, which receives provincial subsidies) but his ob- Jective is to see commuter rail service restored. "As a commuter, I am will- ing to pay the full rate (for the service) It would still be cheap- er than driving back and forth to Toronto." Since VIA was yanked from the rails January 15, he has been driving from Little Britain to Whitby where he catches to GO Train to get to work in downtown Toronto. As for when commuter ser- vice could be restored on the Pe- terborough/Toronto line, Mr. Pagnuelo said if a decision is made, trains could be running this year, perhaps as early as this fall.
