Superspuds first win of the season brought in a triple by Alex McLaughlin along with singles by Chris Heuston and Trevor Barr. H&M Wright Soxs vs Swain Seed Sluggers with a final score of 13 to 7. INTERMEDIATE Don Frew & Sons vs Turner's Green Giants with a final score of 19 to 14. For Don Frew & Sons triples were hit by Jim Chapman and Meagon Wade. Doubles were in abundance coming from Jim Country Style drops contest What a game! Country Style Donuts lost to Greenbank Varie- ty in an action packed contest last Wednesday. Jason Coish and Jamie Page pitched for Country Style and did -a tremendous job. At one point Jamie was hit by a batted ball that smacked him, hard, right on the leg. Did he sit down to recouperate, not Jamie, he just walked it off and kept on pitching. What a guy! Also for Country Style, Scott Wilman hit a powerful home run in the second inning. Clayton Brown (who also pitch- ed a fine game), Andrew Donnel- ly and Jimmy Edwards all hit awesome home runs for Green- bank, Jimmy's resulted in a grand slam. Three singles were hit by Allan Richmond which helped in winning the game. Although Turner's lost the game we had two homeruns by William Micheal and Josh Malcolm. Ryan Copithorn was the only triple hit for Turner's. Maltheb Farms vs MKM Egg- beaters with a final score of 11 to 10. MKM Eggbeaters had only a single homerun hit by Blain Pelrine. Doubles came from Dan- ny Flynn with two, Blain Pelrine, Colleen Arbuckle & John McCourt each with one. Super singles were hit by Darryl McClure, Marilyn Arbuckle, Blain Pelrine, John McCourt with two, Jeremy % Sionemaogy Micheal and Eric Russell. Blackstock Lioness vs Asselstine Yamaha with a final score of 18 to 9. Asselstine's Yamaha's homeruns were hit by Ronnie Kel- ly, Kevin Gilbank and Ryan Peters. The rest of the game was overrun by singles coming from Ronnie Kelly, Jason Andrews, Adam Stewart, Dayna McLeod, Jada McLeod and Robbie Shaw. SENIORS . Blackstock Country Hardware vs Cumming's Backhoe score was unavailable for this game. & PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, July 17, 1990 -- 31 Dignitaries attend weekend Wimpleton by Heather McCrae WIMPLETON came to the Port Perry Tennis Club over the Festival Days weekend and despite the intermittent drizzle put on by Mother Nature it was a successful event. Distinguished visitors attended from far and wide. ~ The truly big winners of Wimpleton were Sandy Darby and Sally Martin, each sharing the Wimpleton winner's plate and a bottle of the best, a gift from the Queen of the Bahamas. Represen- ting the Duchess of Kent and Queen Elizabeth were our very own Georgia Brock and Gillian Henry respectively. Diane Burt made a lavish representation from the Queen of the Bahamas. Wimpleton organizers would like to thank Gillian, Diane and Joan Scott for the donations of all that sinfully delicious baking including Welsh cakes, scones, strawber- ries and cream. Thanks also to Dick and Sally Martin for con- tributing prizes for the event and to the Festival Days organizing committee for donating hats and shirts. The club's next event is the Junior's Doubles Tournament to be held July 28th. Organizers Jeff Murray and Bob Alexander are encouraging the junior members to participate and a sign-up sheet is posted at the courts. The deadline for signing up is 8 p.m. July 25th. Perfect Heating take win Perfect Heating and B & R Electric met last Tuesday in Greenbank. Both teams played a great game. Perfect Heating came up with the win 16-7. Mike Phoenix pitched his first 2 innings of the season and did an awesome job. Jason Ellis played short and did it well. Adam Hunter hit 4 for 4 and Robert Gracie hit 3 for 3. B & R Electric had Mike Piersma hit 3 for 3. Andrew Jacobson played a great game as catcher. Brad Fraser and Jeff McConkey both did a great job on the mound.
