Happy Birthday is extended to Wes Pearce who celebrated his 89th birthday last Wednesday. A family dinner was held in his honour the previous weekend. Recently Mrs. Margaret Pascoe from Whitby enjoyed a few days vacation with Edith and Roy McLaughlin. Alan Petrie successfully com- pleted 150 kilometre bike ride last weekend through Western On- tario in very poor weather in sup- port of the M.S. Society. Alan rais- ed over $700 for this worthy cause and doubtlessly would be happy to receive further amounts towards this fund. Congratulations Alan on a fine job done. . Ken Crawford has returned home from an enjoyable holiday in many points in Alberta. While in Lake Louise he visited Larry Hoskin at Lake Louise Inn. On Saturday evening Neil and Elaine Bailey were surprised with a house full of friends and relatives who came to help them celebrate their 35th wedding an- niversary. Best wishes are ex- tended to you for many more years of happiness together. Susan Fisher of London spent some time in Blackstock visiting her grandparents Frank and Bet- sy Staniland and also her friend Kelly Gatchell. Best wishes are extended to Ivan Duivesteyn and Sonja Van- netten who were married on Saturday. The reception and dance was held in the Blackstock Recreation Complex. They will be making their home in Blackstock. Congratulations. At the conclu- sion President David Petrie of- ficially cut the cake to celebrate the 125th annual Blackstock Fair. Three days of vacation were spent at the Bryan's cottage by Nancy Bryans along with Joan and Merv Brisco, Whitby and Marg and Alf Tomchishin, Scugog Island. Mrs. Audrey Gilmour of Lind- say spent Sunday with her nephew Gerald and Joyce Kelly, Elaine and Esther, joined with other family members to celebrate Elizabeth Peeters' bir- thday. She enjoyed attending the Ecumenical Church Service in the evening. Harold and Dora Martyn have returned home from a trip to the West Coast where they attended a B.M.W. motorcycle rally in Rapid City, South Dakota, then on to the National square dance con- vention in Vancouver that was at- tended by over 7000 dancers from around the world. On the way home they visited relatives and about 20 army friends across the west. They also enjoyed a visit with the Huttons in Brooks, Alber- ta. The Huttons are well and wish- ed to extend greetings to their friends in Blackstock, Nestleton and Caesarea. They enjoyed lunch at the Bon- Fire as well as the production Salt Water Moon. Last week Blackstock Womens Institute entertained the folks at the Port Perry Nursing Home when six of the residents celebrated birthdays. Jim Emer- ton and his dog performed tricks de across Ontario and Roy McLaughlin played his violin. All had a good time. Miss Edna Larmer a resident of the Nursing Home is a patient in Port Perry Hospital. Her many Blackstock friends wish her im- proved health. Members of the Fair Board will be very involved in the prepara- tions for the Demolition Derby on Friday evening and the 125th fair on Saturday which concludes with the dance.
