As is customary for Port Perry, the first two families Premier Peterson spoke with were tourists vigiting the town's waterfront. One family, which politely asked the Pre-. mier to pose in a picture, was from Toronto, while the other was from Ottawa. After chatting with a few more supporters, the Premiers' aides whisked him off to the bus todepart. When questioned by the Port Perry Star about the hasty de- parture, one aide said they had run out of time and had to trav- el on to Peterborough. But it was only 3:30 p.m. and the Premier was scheduled to mainstreet up Queen Street be- fore his scheduled departure at 4p.m. When this was brought to the aides attention, he said the weather was too threatening and the entourage must contin- ueonits way. As the Premier's bus rolled away, candidate Marilyn Pearce said she was disappoint- ed Mr. Peterson's visit was cut short, but she felt a lot had been accomplished. "He didn't realize we are so close to Toronto," she said.
