Saying that the NDP has a solid base of support in Durham East riding, Breaugh urged the party faithful to get out and work hard for Mills' campaign. Mills is married with two children and five grandchil- dren. . NDP say riding up for grabs After 21 years with the Ca- nadian military police, he then worked as tax inspector for the provincial government. He moved to Orono from Barrie when the provincial rev- enue department head office was re-located in Oshawa. He took an early retire- ment and now works for the Orono Weekly Times. The Durham East New Democratic Party riding ex- ecutive held an election planning meeting on August 16, at the Oshawa area committee rooms on Harmony Rd. North. At the meeting, strategic sub- committee rooms were establish- ed throughout the riding, and campaign workers briefed. In a brief policy speech, Gord Mills, NDP candidate for Durham East, told riding workers that Michael Wilson had taxed Cana- dians with more taxes than anyone else in living memory. He reminded them, that to his knowledge Michael Harris is also a member of the Conservative Party, along with the local Con- servative candidate, and although Brian Mulroney may be someone 'they both prefer not to know or hear about - both are Conser- vatives and the Conservatives are responsible for G.S.T. Mr. Mills also reminded the ex- ecutive that this election will determine whether or not we will have a vastly increased G.S.T. coming from the Province and from the Federal Government. He said, the record of David Peterson suggests that he can't be relied upon when he states that there is no intention on the part of the Liberals to place a tax on top of G.S.T. Car replacement tires is an example of double taxation presently being carried out by the Liberals. 4 AUCTION SALES THIS WEEK'S LISTING ARE LOCATED ON PAGE 39 FRONT SECTION \. Certificates D.J.
