Alex and Lynn Welker enter- tained the immediate family for brunch after Jocelynn's Christen- ing. They planted a tree in honour of the occasion. Attending the family gathering were grand- parents Harvey and Claudia McDairmid, grandparents Pat and John Houston of Cobourg; great grandmother Mrs. Dorothy McDiarmid; Godparents Mike McDiarmid and his fiancee Cindy Stewart, and Uncle Jim Welker of Cobourg. Cindy and Dennis Werry, Robert and John of Kedron hosted a family gathering in honour of Kaitlin O'Donnell's baptism. Guests, were her parents Jim and Leanne O'Donnell and big sister Ashley of Kitchener, grand- parents Keith and Wilma Van- Camp, Barry and Jay VanCamp all of Blackstock, Debbie and Bill Showler of Oshawa. Dianne Gatchell is ome recuperating from surgery in Oshawa Hospital. Mrs. Jean Trewin underwent surgery last week in Oshawa Hospital and hopes to be home again by mid- week. Belle Werry and Irene McKee are both patients in Port Perry Hospital. We wish all of these ladies improved health, Henry and Tammy Wolters and family recently moved into their beautiful new home on Highway 7A west of the village. Halloween signs available Tired of hiding in your house with the lights out on Hallo- ween night, when you have run our of treats? This was one of the reasons, Suzanne Storgato, of Suz's Pumpkins, designed a sign to hang on your door, so trick-or- treaters, know if you still have candy to hand out. The fluorescent orange signs have a smiling pumpkin with the words Trick or Treat on one side, and a sad pumpkin with the word "Sorry" on the other that lets children know you are out of goodies. Suzanne made 10, 000 signs which are available at many lo- cations. In Port Perry they can be purchased at the Port Perry L.G.A., or at Honey Grove Coun- try Cabin. She also has the signs in many other stores in Oshawa, Barrie, and Orillia. The signs can be purchased at these loca- tions for $2.99. Kick'r to perform at Legion Friday "Kick'R", a five member band, who has opened for big name bands such as "Kiss" is coming to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 419'c, Hallo- ween bash on Friday, October 26. Because the Legion recentl y changed its constitution to a low children of Veterans to join along with their spouses there are more younger members all the time. According to Bob Douglas, Veteran, there are currently 145 Veterans, out of 600 members of the Legion. They are outnumbered by three to one. Because the new members are of a younger gen- eration, their type of activities reflect a younger type of music. Mr. Douglas added that "we (the Legion) hope the younger ta, will carry on the good works of the Legion, as far as community wor is con- cerned." The band which has been to- gether for three years, has re- cently opened for Kiss, and on November, 2, will be opening for Northern' Pikes, in Mount Hope. Jeff Brown states the group plays mostly late 70's, and ear- ly 80's type music. About one third of their songs are original, but also perform Led Zeppelin, and ZZ Top music.
