Both Lumberman goals came in the first period off the stick of Travis Pickard with Kevin Ed- wards and Alex Upton assisting on the first and Justin Sheehey setting up the second. Fine goaltending from S. Savage of the Lions Club kept the game close in the final two periods. Aaron Levy picked up the shutout for the LLumbermen. Cor- nish on Monday, October 29, the Golden Hawks beat the Red Raiders by a 7 to 2 score. This game was actually quite close for two periods. After one period, the score was tied 1-1. Steve Elliot notched the goal for the Golden Hawks while Pat Smith scored for the Red Raiders. Dennis Goodman led the way for the Hawks in the second period as he scored twice. Pat Smith scored his second goal of the night for the Raiders to make the score 3 to 2 for the Golden Hawks after two periods. The Hawks had that golden touch in the third period as they got four unanswered goals to secure their 7-2 victory. Steve Elliot scored twice to get his hat trick while Dennis Good- man got two goals himself to finish the game with 4 goals in total. Matt Youmans and Jamie Ir- vine both had strong games for the Hawks while Chad Mitchell and Mike Weels played fine games for the Red Raiders. The second period was a nail biter with both clubs scoring twice, to end the second period in a 2-2 tie. The rushes didn't get slower, they got faster. and more of them and the goalies got better too. Whitby had the advantage in the play but both teams were even in the score column due to some mee goaltending by Gord Lewis Motors goalie Corer Branton In the third period the suspence mounted but at every turn both goalies turned the oltence away empty handed. Both Whitby Auto Wreckers and Gord Lewis Motors scored one goal each to round the scoring out as a 3 all tie. Scoring for Whitby Auto Wreckers was Brennan Maclean from Gavin Baxter, Chris Jameson from Gavin Baxter and Chris Jameson scoring his second goal of the game unassisted Scoring for Gord Lewis Motors was Jeff Gunn, unassisted, Ryan Williamson from Jeremy Gibson and Jeremy Gibson unassisted. Playing in goal for Gord Lewis Motors was Corey Branton and in goal for Whitby, Ryan Puckrin. 3 stars were Corey Branton - Chris Jameson - Jeff Gunn. Next Atom House League is Thursday evening. Come out and enjoy. loor hockey results In Intermediate YMCA floor hockey action played October 29, the Blue Herons defeated the Wildcats by a score of 13-2. In the first period, single goals were scored by Ryan Fraser and Kevin Duncan and two goals by Aaron Levy for the Herons. The second period saw Aaron Levy scoring one goal, while Brad Fraser, Mark Heffern and Mat- thew Brown each scored two goals for the Herons. Brennan Malcolm and Evan Bertrand each scored one goal for the Wildcats. The third period goals for the Herons were scored by Mark Hef- fern and Matthew Brown. Hang in there Wildcats - we had fun and that's what matters, besides our record is still a long way off from those "Maple Leafs." Tween B's defeat Beaverton The opening minutes of play certainly determined the fate of this well fought game, between the Tween B's and Beaverton Scoring for Port Perry was #3 Jenny Storms assisted by #10 Melissa Pereman. Way to go girls! Continued efforts from blue & white sticks enabled Port to add to the scoreboard. Determined efforts from red sticks, were just unable to stop the aggressive Beaverton teams. A fantastic job between the pipes was put forth by Amy Sinclair. Amy is not only new to the goaltending job, but is also a first year player. Our hats to off to you Amy. Cornish Public School. The 1st period saw the Red Wings take an early lead with 4 goals. Scorers for the Red Wings were Adam Youmans and Jeff Kane with 1 goal each and Joey Drebit with 2 goals. The golden Hawks fought back in the 2nd period with 4 goals of their own. Matthew MacMaster earned a hat trick with 3 goals in this period. The other Golden Hawk's goal was scored by David Halward. The Red Wings earned 1 goal in this period scored by Eric Bird. With both teams battling into the 3rd period the Red Wings scored, ensuring them of the vic- tory for tonight. The final Red Wing goal was scored by Greg Langford. The final score was Red Wings 6 - Golden Hawks 4. Goaltending for the Red Wings was shared by Greg Langford, Glenn Thompson and Ricky VanAndel. David Halward, Tyler Houthuys and Matthew Mac- Master were the Golden Hawk's goalies. Novice Ringette The Port Perry XL Gas Bar Novice ringette team travelled to Ennismore Friday night to test their skills against a more ex- perienced opponent. Under early pressure Port fell behind as the four new defence players Alaina Davis, Miranda Burgess, Leanne Holt and Katherine Cooke adapted to game conditions. New goalie, Alicia Burgess, ad- justing to shots from a formidable opponent after only 3 practices, continued to improve with her defence. The forwards Sarah Ver- shuuren, Leanne Layzell, Nicole Virtue and Leanne Davison also gained valuable experience and knowledge during the first period. All of these girls were playing in their first ever game of ringette. In the second period, the ex- perienced white sticks Jennifer Donnelly and Melissa Hooker led Port to a 1-0 shutout during the final frame on a goal by Melissa. The girls showed improvement with every shift and have set the tone for an exciting and enjoyable season. Congratulations to all on an excellent effort and best of luck in the return match with En- nismore, November 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Manvers.
