That's when the Santa Claus parade hits the streets of Port Perry. Locally, Santa's busiest little helper is parade organizer Wendy Davis. Eight bands, in- cluding a clown band, are set to fill the streets with the sounds of Christmas while marching between 50 floats and walking participants. After the parade, the kiddies can meet Santa and receive a bag of goodies at his house on Queen Street. Santa Claus will be at his Port Perry retreat for scheduled visits right up until Christmas. "It's nice to get away for a few hours from all the hustle and bustle at the North Pole to visit PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 6, 1990 -- 5 all the good children in Scugog Township," Santa confided to a reporter at the Port Perry Star. "And remember, if your school, service group or organi- zation hasn't entered a float in the parade yet, there is still time to do so," he said. "Just re- member, all entries have to be decorated in the Christmas theme." Parade applications can be Santa Claus needs more floats for parade picked up at Wendy's Boutique on Mary Street or the Chil- dren's Den or Port Perry Star, both on Queen Street. The parade starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24. It will fol- low the same route as last year, starting at the fairgrounds, running down Reach Road to Lilla Street, Lilla to Queen Street and Queen to Water Street.
