Several coming events were announced - Next Sunday, Dec. 97:30 p.m. an evening of Christmas carols and music for the whole family with the choirs of St. John's Anglican, Nestleton and Blackstock. Sun. Dec. 16 - "As Is" Christmas Gift Sunday - 10:00 a.m. Sun., Dec. 23 - Intergenerational Christmas Service 10:00 a.m. Mon. Dec. 24 - 7:30 p.m. Christmas Eve Family Service. A large number of local parents and 4-H members joined others from Durham East for the ban- quet at Orono on Fridav evening. Many awards for the completion of the many projects throughout the years were presented by the leaders. Special awards for various levels in 4-H work were presented. Local young people receiving these were - Six Pro- jects award - Jeff Kemp, Heather RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE Malcolm, Heather Goulding. Twelve Projects and Eighteen Projects - No one locally. Twenty- four projects - A limited edition print - Julie Byers, and Elaine Kelly. Congratulations to Julie Byers who received the Ted Buttery Memorial Award as an outstan- ding 4-H member entering his/her first year of a university of com- munity college. Julie was also one of 4 outstanding members who will be on the Durham Milk Com- mittee Ottawa trip. Well done, Julie. The students and staff of Cart- wright Central Public School are very busy preparing for the pro- duction of Anne of Green Gables on Wednesday and Thursday evenings of this week. For tickets for a great evening of drama call the school. The annual nursery school pan- cake breakfast with Santa was a great success on Sunday at the Blackstock Recreation Centre. What a great way to celebrate the beginning of this joyous Christmas season. From time to time Walter and Audrey Wright, Lloyd and Thelma Wright, Marjorie Brad- burn and other local relatives call on Miss Vera Forder who now resides in a nursing home in Peterborough.
