The first game last Wednesday was against stiff competition from the strong Bowmanville squad. Pineridge played hard and strong but unfortunately seemed to lose their touch in front of the net. On the other hand Bowmanville stayed in top form throughout and their constant efforts paid off with a 4-0 victory. Travelling to Manvers for an exhibition game with the Oshawa Bruins of the L.N.H.L., Pineridge burst out in the first period as Danny Lyons plugged away to score the first goal of the game. The Bruins fought back to tie it up and then went ahead in the second period. Onc e again Danny Lyons continual hard work paid off with his second of the day to even the score. Scott Jeffrey assisting Danny on this one. Unfortunately the hard efforts did not pay off as a determined bunch of Bruins scored the only goal in the third for a final of 3-2. Good effort on this one everyone. It must have been the full moon Sunday night in Manvers that did our guys in, as this game proved to be our undoing. The Manvers team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period. Port reciprocated in the second on a goal by Danny Lyons., assist to Ryan Moynes. Manvers kept the pressure on and scored two more in the second and then again a pair in the third. Jammie Strickert was able to score for Pineridge in the third playing close to the ice surface for a final score of 6-2. Keep plugging away, everyone, and good luck in the Bobcaygeon Tournament next week-end.
