It was a big win for the 'Jacks as they rebounded from a 6-2 loss Saturday night at the hands of the Little Britain Mer- chants. The MoJacks were fired up for the game against Lakefield as they jumped to a very fast 2-0 lead after just two minutes of the opening period. Warren Geer lit the light at the 50 second mark and John Lally made it 2-0 53 seconds lat- er. And they kept up the pres- sure the rest of the period with Rob Willetts and John Harman adding goals to give the team a 4-0 bulge after 20 minutes. But the Chiefs began to pick things up in the second. Af- ter Lally made it 5-0 with his second of the night, Bill Wasson tallied for Lakefield on a shot that seemed to deflect off a Port Perry player. And early in the third, the Chiefs started what looked like a rally as Mike Markwick and Wasson scored to make it 5-3. But defenseman Bill Law- renson restored a three -goal lead at 6:48 on just a superb in- dividual effort. He started a rush deep in his own zone, and finished it deep in the Chief zone as worked in close for a clear shot on net. Jim Vernon and Kevin Desrosiers drew assists on this play. Dan Maw with a good shot to the glove side and Jarrett Harman, also with a good shot rounded out the scoring for the MoJacks, while John Allen re- plied for Lakefield late in the game. Captain Brad Menzies chipped in with three assists, killed penalties and took a lot of important faceoffs. Lawrenson turned in an outstanding game for the Mo- Jacks. His goal gave the team a big lift at a crucial point in the match and he was tough on de- fense all evening. Dwayne Mackie went the distance for the MoJacks in the nets, facing 27 shots. He made his best save of the game in the middle period, snaring a point shot with the trapper that had "top corner" written all overit. In other action in the Cen- tral Junior C League over the weekend, Bowmanville tripped Little Britain 6-5, Uxbridge de- feated Cobourg 6-1, and Lake- field nipped Uxbridge 4-3. League standings after- Sunday night's action have Legionaires win, . On December 7, Port Legionaires faced off an organiza- tion from Stouffville. 1st stanza play was split by a tremendous netminders duo. Early into the 2nd Port's own Billy Zaparanuik banged one home from Ian Shrigley set up. But Stouffville came back with a goal just 9 sec. later. They scored again to end the 2nd period with a 2-0 lead. Just 21 sec. into the 3rd Ian Shrigley, from a Jay King pass, found a wide open Ian McCready who blasted a ripper by the sieve to tie it up. This set the stage for overtime. Unfortunately we don't have overtime, so the game end- ed in a 2 all tie. 7-2 Victory On Saturday, the tough Port team, bounced back as they were fired up for the game against Uxbridge. 1 min. into the game, Uxbridge scored to take the early lead. But Port's Jay Tredway on a solo ef- fect popped home a beauty to tie it up. 6 min. later Uxbridge scored again to take the lead. But Port said "No way Hose as they began to come back. First it was Jay Tredway scor- ing on a nice pass from King. Then Billy Zap scored on a beau- ty rap-around. Assist awarded to Shrigley. Then Matt Hobbs bang- ed one home in a scramble to enlarge Port's lead. Kent LeFort contributed to the effort scoring a beauty from Laird and Zap. Then Port's Daryl Bourgeois make some good stops in the second period to help stake the MoJacks to an 8-4 win over the first place Lakefield Chiefs. (see story for details) Lakefield on top with 30 points, followed by Bowmanville with 28, Uxbridge 25, Little Britain 23, Port Perry 20, Cobourg 15 and Ajax 11. Pineridge Atom 2 team update Over the past week the Atom #2 team, played two games, the first was an exhibition game against the Oshawa Black Hawks of the L.N.H.L. although the team put in a good effort the lack of scoring has been hurting in obtaining wins. The Blackhawks played just a little bit harder and skated to a 4-0 win. On Saturday the team travell- ed to Lindsay to take on the Lind- say Atom #2 team. Port took flight in the first period as they jumped out to a 3-1 lead early. Jason Heyworth started the scoring as he was nicely set up by his linemates Adam Hobbs and Blayne Kinnunen. Lindsay tied it up right away but Adam Hobbs gave Port the lead with a nice ef- fort in front. Assists to Scott Sanderson and Jamie Strickert. The third -Port goal was scored late in the period by Scott Sander- son with assists to Scott Jeffrey and Jamie Strickert. The home team roared back in the second to tie it up but Port took the lead into the third as Justin Halligan gave the Lindsay goalie no chance with a devasting wrist shot.
