On December 12, the Port Perry 1.G.A. Petite's took their show on the road again this time travelling around scenic Lake Scugog to Oakwood to take on the mighty Mariposa Petites for their second meeting this season. After taking it on the chin 8 to 6 at home, against Mariposa last time. Rose Skinner had her team in tune for this one after having a hard workout prior to this meeting. It didn't take the Port 1.G.A. girls long to throw a log in the fire when Amanda Wakeford scored at 14:21 on a nice feed pass from Diane Vanderligt. At 12:53 Mandy Smart was in all alone on the Mariposa goalie and threw the ring high in the corner to put Port ahead 2-0. At 11:24, Mariposa finally got on the scoresheet to narrow the score to 2-1. Diane Vanderligt shot the ring ahead to Amanda Wakeford who blasted a low screamer on the goalies stick- hand side, to make the score 3-1 for Port I.G.A. At 6:16 of the first period, Mandy Smart made two nice moves to get around two players, and slid a nice pass over to Amanda Wakeford who wasted no time in tucking it behind the Mariposa goalie and earning her hat trick. Mariposa scored one more in the first period to end the scoring in the first period with Port Perry I.G.A. 4 and Mariposa 2. The second period was a carbon copy of the first period, but both goalies held their ground shutting down everything the offence threw at them. At 12:01 Port final- ly turned on the goal-light when Amanda Wakeford shot a nice lead pass up to Jennifer Elliot who was in quickly on the Mariposa goalie and rifling one by her, catching her flat-footed. Mariposa scored two quick goals of their own to narrow the gap to 5 to 4 for Port Perry 1.G.A. With 3:56 left in the game, Pam Hiltz put the ring up to Amanda Wakeford who in turn shot the ring into the slot where Jennifer Elliot was, and she whistled one into the top corner to go ahead 6-4. Mariposa didn't roll over and die, Soe\--\ Traction Improvements We Repair Snowmobiles © M0st makes of Nbr Snowmobiles snowmobiles. instead they passed the ring bang, bang, bang, and it was in the net to narrow the gap to 6 to 5. As the clock started to wind down, this one goal difference got bigger and bigger, and try as they may, they couldn't get the ring into Port Perry's zone. 'I'ne horn sounded and the game was over with Port 1.G.A. Petite's defeating a spirited Mariposa team. Honourable Mention for Good Hustle goes to Pam Hiltz and an honorable mention for Good Defensive Effort goes to Jenny Pashley. In goal for Port Perry was Christie Aldridge who played a fine game between the pipes for Port. vs. Bobcaygeon On Saturday, December 15, Bobcaygeon travelled to Port Perry to play against the high fly- ing 1.G.A. Petites. With Bob- caygeon in a rebuilding year the same as Port, this game was go- ing to be interesting if nothing else to see what areas of the game each teams coaches thought was most important. It seemed both teams thought offence was with the Port offence being superior and a little more depth on defence. Port Perry's goalie was probably the big difference also as she had more poise than the lit- tle Bobcaygeon goalie and could make the saves much easier and did. It didn't take Port Perry 1.G.A. girls long to get warmed up when Mandy Smart stole the ring inside Bobcaygeons blueline and sent a scorer into the bottom corner to give Port the lead 1-0 at the 12:32 mark. At 10:38, Mandy Smart again grabbed the ring near the Bob- caygeon free pass circle and this time busted one into the top cor- ner to give Port a 2-0 lead. Geni Taylor scored when she had the goalie down and put the ring upstairs where the goalie couldn't get it. At the 4:40 mark of the first period, Pam Hiltz scored when she tucked one under a surprised goalie. At 2:36, Natasha Burgess scored a nice give and go goal Complete repairs including POWER EC 985-4771 SALES - SERVICE Reg.Rd. 8 & North Port Rd - 2nd Building - Unit No. 3 FREE PICKUP and DELIVERY into our dealership for a thorough 69 Point analysis and complete performance evaluation. Pam Hiltz scored at 1:57 to make the score 6-2, assisted by Mandy Smart. With 12 seconds left in the first period, Jenny Pashley scored an unassisted goal. Port started the second period off quick when Pam Hiltz blasted PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuésday, December 18, 1990 -- a1"* Port Perry Petite B results a low shot past a screened Bob- caygeon goalie. Bobcaygeon got two more quick goals to make the score 8-4 for Port Perry. Mandy Smart scored a nice give and go goal, by a sprawling goalie assisted by Pam Hiltz. At 10:54, Mandy Smart once again scored for her fourth goal of the game. At 10:32 Natasha Burgess scored from Jennifer Elliot and Jennifer Elliot rounded out the scoring to make the score 12-4. Remember girls, what goes round comes round. It was only two years ago that most of the Port Novices, now Petites were being beaten 20-0 or so. So remember, be "kind,"' because what goes round comes round. In goal for Port Perry 1.G.A. Petites was Amanda Wakeford who did a nice job in goal.
