Port got one back in the second as Ryan Puckrin walked, then showed his speed as he stole se- cond and third and scored on Casey Van Schagen"s ground out. Jason settled down on the mound and turned Stouffville back until the bottom of the fifth. With the top of Stouffville's bat- ting order leading off, they strung together five singles and a double to jump out front 8-1. Last week's action saw three of the games end in one-point vic- tories, and the fourth match was a tie. So if action is what you en- joy, join us on Wednesday even- ing for some great games. On field one, Van Camp Con- tracting extended their unbeaten season with a tight 4-3 victory over Port Perry Printing. Jason Whitworth scored all four goals in the winning effort. The strong defence provided by Jason Cruickshanks and Courtney Paleske, and super goal tending by Amy Forbes and Steve Nagy, also helped Van Camp secure their victory. Mike DeMaio played an ex- cellent game in net for the Stormers, and Mark Vernoey was wonderful on defence. On field two, Manvers 1 scored another tight victory, 3-2 over the Legion. The Legion players showed a lot of heart, with a good number playing despite injuries. Brad Johnston and Brian Harris scored the Legion goals, and if more of the shots had co-operated, the out- come of the game could have been quite different. On field three, Nuts About Chocolate narrowly defeated the Dynamos 2-1. These two teams were very well matched, and the game was well played by both teams. On field four, Country Lane and Manvers 2 battled it out to a 3-3 tie. Phil Krohn had two goals for Country Lane, and Jamie Byers scored the tying goal in the final minutes of the game. Crystal and Sara were strong offensively for Country Lane, while Cam and Lyle really provided some great defense. The Manvers team exhibited some really good sportsmanship throughout, and Jarrett Lee scored two of the goals for Manvers, with Chris Bridge sup- plying the third marker. The Soccer Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Darlene Colton for the excellent job she did taking team and in- dividual pictures of all the Mini, Squirt and Atom players over the last two weeks. She patiently waited for a good moment so that games would not be interrupted at a crucial point, and she went out of her way to try to take in- dividual pictures of players who missed their team shots due to absence or illness. Thanks, Darlene, and good luck in your new shop in Port Perry. Parents, a reminder that all pictures will be distributed to the players on Cup Day, August 24.
