Couperthwaite, Muriel Gibson, Harold and Margaret Holtby and Helen McKean en- joyed a bus trip on Saturday to the Milton Agricultural Museum. It was the "Celebration of Quilting." This will be the home of the prize winning quilts of "Canada Packers Prizes."' We were pleas- ed to see a "Port Perry Quilters Guild" hanging there among the beautifully made quilts. Sunday was interesting to see Community Centre ready for busy fall Prince Albert by llean Pugh Ron and Linda Marsh and girls have returned home after spen- ding a month at Lake Simcoe on their sailboat. Merv and Ilean Pugh spent a week at Balsam Lake then travel- ed north to spend some time with son Ivan and Linda and grand- daughter Cassandra. Company with Les and Grace Beacock on Wednesday was Grace's sister Mary Devitt of Oshawa and friend Gertie Wanamaker of Seagrave. Sympathy is extended to the families Wilbur and Hazelwood in the very tragic deaths last week. Mr. Tony Mark has passed away on Saturday. He was a very elderly man and a native of Prince Albert for many years. The Community Centre has been closed the last few weeks for repairs and having the interior all redecorated and floors refinished. It is now finished and ready for the busy fall season. The weekly euchre will be starting on Thurs- day, August 22 at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. The Prince Albert United Church has also reopened for ser- vice at 11:30 a.m. and choir prac- tice on Thursday evenings. Mr. and Mrs. Armour McMillan attended the family picnic in Elgin Park on Sunday. This was also an 85th birthday celebration for his sister Mrs. Bessie Acton. On Sunday, August 11 the an- nual Memorial Decoration Ser- vice will be held in Greenbank Cemetery. The special speaker is Rev. Jack Roundell and soloist Mrs. Rita Stickwood. At the Friday night euchre the ladies prizes were: 1st Mary Poots; second Marie Geer; 3rd Jean Rodd and Mens 1st Murray Geer; 2nd Erla Hill; 3rd Cliff Rodd: Lucky draws: Jean Rodd, Grant Drewery, Gayle McLeod. Muriel Gibson and Mavis Pelletier attended the Quilt Show and Sale on Sunday in Cann- ington, also an antique show and sale in Sunderland. Muriel had two beautiful quilts on display in Cannington. The Motto will be "Charity begins at Home' and in keeping with this theme our guest speaker will be Mrs. Barbara Carnegie, Secretary-Treasurer of Operation Scugog Food Bank, who will discuss the aims and needs of this organization. It would be a fine gesture if members would bring at least two items of non-perishable food to donate to the bank, which is bad- ly in need of help. Tinned stews, meat and fish are most useful as are tinned vegetables, fruits and juices. Also welcome are tea, flour, rice, sugar and tinned or dried milk.
