Barbara Brown from Scugog Island won $25,000 playing Scratch Poker, one of the Onta- rio Lottery Corporation' 8 in- stant games. Mrs. Brown scratched five aces from the games card indi- cating that she had won the $25,000 prize. "I couldn't believe it," she told the Port Perry Star last week. In fact she still can't believe it, she added. She was not the only one who couldn't believe her good for- tune as her husband Ron wouldn't believe her either. She said she has "teased" him in the past about winning, and he thought it was just another one of her pranks when she called. But this was the real thing this time. Like most lottery wins, this one was purely by accident. Mrs. Brown, who works at Kel- lett's Variety where she bought the ticket, didn't intend to scratch that ticket but decided to after it fell on the floor. She is RAY il EE. One thing she knows she'll do hovaver is keep playing lotter- Holiday RIDE program underway Durham Regional Police says its spot check program is under- way for the 1991 holiday sea- son. According to staff-sergeant Bill VanDoleweerd the spot checks will be set up in strate- gic locations in Port Perry, Ux- bridge, Beaverton and Sunder- land. Engine & tow truck stolen in break in An engine and a tow truck was taken during a break in at an industrial unit in Port Perry.
