VOTED #1 DANCE ACADEMY FOR 8 YEARS! Dance Classes For All Ages NEW! Toddler Time Vertwcoleur Clsser' Only four days to go until dozens of ‘brave hearts’ will shed their warm winter clothing and run into the chilly, no make that frigid, water of Lake Scugog. Many will remember a year ago when more than 30 area resi- dents charged into the bone chilling water of the lake to raise more than $13,000 for the local hospital. Now a year later, the Hospital Auxiliary, organizers of “The Great Port Perry Polar Plunge” are encouraging the public to take the plunge this Saturday, January 10. The fun begins at 11:00 a.m. near the beach at Palmer Park. Bill McKee, Scugog’s town crier will get things underway and members of the Scugog Fire Department will provide water rescue demonstrations prior to the start of the plunge. Those participating are asked to secure pledges totalling a minimum of $200 from their friends, co-workers, family, or anyone who would just love to see them take a jump in the frigid lake in January. Receipts for income tax purposes will be issued for donations of $20 or more. Proceeds will benefit the Port Perry Hospital. Organizers gai ing participants to come dressed in costumes, or bathing suits. And yes, if you want to wear your bikini, that’s okay too. There will be coffee and hot chocolate in the park for those who have come to cheer the plungers on. It’s a great family event and lots of fun! An award ceremony will be held in the Latcham Centre after the plunge and a hot lunch will be provided by the Hospital Auxiliary members.
