ooks like 2009 has brought some changes to Queen Street Common, where Steve Krieder, owner of the popular “Plovers” environmental store, has decided to move on after almost seven years in Port Perry. Steve has sold his business to local resident Cheryl Helm, who has taken over operation of the business. Across the street, the newly opened “Turquoise” clothing apparel store has covered its window with a large sign an- nouncing it “going out of business” for the month of February. The sign also suggests it will re-open in March, so we'll have to keep an eye on this one. Moving away from Queen St., we see work is underway at the Old Simcoe Plaza in a couple of units. The most south- erly of these units has a sign in the window announcing that a “Wild Wing” restaurant has opened. Old Simcoe Plaza is located at the corner of, you guessed it, Old Simcoe Rd. and Regional Rd. 8. may recall, we announced last month, “Snob Country Collectibles” has ceased operation after 16 years in Port Perry. Debi Lehman, owner of “Over Her Shoulder,” has recently moved from Casimir St. and re-opened her popular designer handbag store at this handy downtown 141 Perry St., location. Back at 183 Casimir St., Flow Yoga Studio is setting up to provide a new facility for yoga instruction. This studio, oper- ated by Maria Carr, will be located in the premises formerly occupied by Over Her Shoulder and has planned an opening for March 9. Royal LePage Frank Real Estate has opened an office in the former Min Com Home Run real estate office at 34 Water St., Port Perry.
