aa rent Harper and Scott Wylie are the “new kids on the block” in the food industry this month, having opened Harp & Wylie’s Canadian Grill House. The two young men and their partners opened Harp & Wylie’s attractively renovated restaurant at 150 Water St., the former location of the Waterfront Pub. Unfortunately, across town at 1888 Scugog St. (that’s also known as 7A Hwy.) we're sorry to report that Magdy’s Casual Dining restaurant closed its doors in mid-July. We've heard that Magdy is planning on opening another restaurant in the Oshawa area, although we have not been able to confirm this. And it appears as if Colour Your World has closed its Port Perry location at 54 Water St. Although there has been no formal announcement of the closure, their door is locked and most of the stock has been removed. Betty and Ed Penny of Scugog Island Cruises will be opening their Scugog Cruises Nautical Shoppe on Thursday, August 20 in newly renovated space at 166 Water Street. They are celebrating with a one day anniversary sale with cake, free gifts and discounts on selected items. Filling one spot along Scugog Street later this month will be Method Boards & Apparel operated by Adrian Stephens and Clayton Cotton. The new store will specialize in skate boards, snow boards and apparel, filling a void left when The Boarding Hut recently closed. If you haven’t already noticed, Scugog Fix-It Right has made a short move from Unit 10 around the back to Unit 11 at their 182 North Port Rd. location. In closing, we extend our apologies to Debbie Taylor of Essence of Beauty for mistakenly announcing her salon was vacant in this column last month. Essence of Beauty, located at 84 Water St., continues to provide the same quality services at this location as it has for many years. ENJOY SWINGIN: Wednesday evenings at Palmer Park!
