did you know? lakefront of litter Scugog is blessed with owning one of the largest and most beautiful lake- fronts in southern Ontario, but anyone venturing beyond Palmer Park might get a surprise. The lakeside path which winds south from Kinsmen Beach, along behind the ball parks is “littered” with plastic bottles, bait containers, beer cans, coffee cups and “you name it”. What a shame that our lakefront has fallen victim to the scourge of litterers. It would certainly help if garbage containers were placed strategically along this popular lakefront pathway. We're sure most people, if given a choice, would discard their garbage into containers instead of throwing it onto the ground. it’s official... the ice is out The ice left Lake Scugog a little earlier this year than it has for the past six years, when it wasn’t until April before it let go of its icy grip. For the record book, the official “ice out” date for 2010 will be written as Saturday, March 27. During the early morning of that date only a stubborn chunk of ice was left in the bay off Palmer Park, but by days end the last trace of ice disappeared. April is by far, the most common month for the ice to melt away from Lake Scugog since dates started being tracked back in 1872. During this time (138 years) the ice has only disappeared from the lake | 7 times during the month of March, the earliest being 1983 when it went out on March 16. future rockers...
