Readers greatly appreciate articles Dear Editor: This is our ‘thumbs up’ for Peter and his excellent staff at “The Focus” magazine. We find the articles are so informative - re: the past (eg. Seven Mile Island), the present (eg. The Doc’s) and the future (eg. Changing Faces). We so enjoy the stories on local residents - some we know and some we are getting to know. We receive an education with each new addition and look forward to receiving Focus on Scugog every month. Your publication is greatly appreciated by us. Please keep up the good work. Susan and Douglas Baird Scugog Island, Port Perry Praises long hours put in by workers Dear Editor I would like to respond to one of your “Thumbs” in the August 2010 Focus on Scugog concerning the munici- pal parking lot. We live in a perfect position to view the progress of this construction We have found the workers throughout the spring and summer construction of Water and North St. to be hard working, friendly and they worked long hours in their attempt to have the construction completed in a timely fashion. The weather was not always ideal but most days they started early and worked late. The Friday evening before the Dragon Boat races, one of the workers continued until approximately 10 p-m. to ensure the lot was ready for use the next day. The day of the races the new parking lot appeared to be filled to capacity. The pavement for the lot was completed on June 30th and the individual parking lines were painted on the morning of July 1st. Once again the parking lot ap- peared to be filled to capacity on the day and evening of the Canada Day celebrations. I think it is appropriate that we acknowledge that the long hours and timely completion for this work should be appreciated and enjoyed. In closing, I would like to thank you for your effort into presenting Scugog Township with a very enjoyable and informative publication. Yours sincerely Bev Muir Editor’s Note: It was not our intention to diminish the efforts of the workers on this project, but to point out the timing was not particularly ideal for the local businesses, many who are still feeling the effects of a slow economy.
