ELAN (08.FOCUS, AUGUST.32 pgsindd 21 Scugog arts festival 999 2012 he countdown is on for the newly expanded Summer Breeze Festival, which blows into Port Perry from August 16-19. The four-day festival kicks off with a stimulating literary event featuring author Jan Wong. Wong has recently published a new book, Out of the Blue, to rave reviews. The literary evening takes place at the Piano Café with tickets $10. On Friday, August 17th, Brian Neale and Northern Harbour takes to the stage at Town Hall 1873 for a night of tropical rock and roll. The good times start at 5:30 p.m. with a tailgate party com- plete with summer cocktails, a barbeque and party games. The concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $29. Saturday August 18th will be the busiest day of the festival with musical entertainment near Queen and Water Streets. Free performances take place all afternoon. As a special treat for families and kids, Jack Grunsky performs at the Scugog Memorial Public Library. The concert starts at 2 p.m. and tickets are only $6 each or $20 for a family of four. Also on Saturday, Port Perry’s restaurants and bars will offer up a Summer Breeze Festival welcome with special menus and entertainment. In evening head out to the Scugog Shores Museum to catch the Driftwood Theatre’s latest production of “A Midsummer Night's Dream at 7:30 p.m. Admis- sion is by donation ($15 suggested). After all that literary, musical, culinary and theatrical fun you might be ready for an easy after- noon. So just head back to the library on Sunday to relax on the terrace and take in the Song Writer’s Music Festival from 1 to 4 p.m. It’s free, open to all ages and just the thing to wind down from a spec- tacular weekend.
