The first of Scugog’s two great fall fairs take place in just a few weeks, with the kick-off of the Blackstock Fair. It's the 147th year for the Blackstock commu- nity’s fair and this year it begins Friday, August 24 with a new event - the Garden Tractor Pull begin- ning at 7 p.m. There will be 10 classes from youth (under 15 yrs.) to Super Stock and Pro Stock — lots of power, smoke and noise. These are not your neighbours’ grass cutters - they’re “pimped up to pull” work- ing toys. For those not interested in this event, the ex- hibit buildings and concessions will be open to the public on Friday from 7-9 p.m. The big show gets underway on Saturday, be- ginning with the annual parade to the faitgrounds and followed by horse shows and many 4-1 achievements in the mornii The younger set will love ‘the popular Kids’ World, pony rides, obstacle course and jumping castle. Afternoon activities include livestock shows - dairy and beef cattle, light and heavy horses and Agworld all day. Throughout the day ¢ entertainment will indude town crier Bill McKee, ages, the Outback Cloggers and music by the ie ten family. This is followed by Clever Cat and High Top Society for the teens and younger adults to enjoy before our smashing Demolition Derby. Again this year we will have a “Super Moms Van Special” for their favourite charity as well as the other regu- lar car classes. Following the Demo Derby, there will be anew Grandstand Show featuring Riki Knox, a talented country singer and recording artist from Durham Please turn to page 32 FOCUS - AUGUST 2012 29 1207-23 9:13AM
