MOTORGCE POKER RIDE The Red Knight's Motorcycle Club, Chap- ter 11 of Uxbridge, is hosting their annual Motorcycle Poker Ride. Proceeds of the ride will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Durham. The 200 km ride will travel from Scu- gog, through Brock and Uxbridge Townships and ends at Crabby Joe’s in Port Perry. The 4th annual Port Perry Town & Country House Tour is all set to take place Saturday, September 22. The tour, organized by Port Perry United Church Community Outreach will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To date, this popular house tour has raised more than $25,000 for the local chari- ties and this year organizers hope to sell 500 tickets and raise another $10,000. There are seven exciting venues that have been graciously donated for the tour. All homes reflect the great diversity that can be found within our community — his- torical and custom built homes, with the latest trends in interior design finishes, to an open concept retirement home overlooking the golf course with a lovely view of Beaver Creek and Lake Scugog. Each ticket includes a stop at the United Church where the House Tour Café will be serving complimentary light refreshments and homemade baked goods throughout the day. Also, enjoy the works of several local artists and artisans and have an opportunity to take a tour of this historic church. Scugog Soccer goes green with Trillium grant The Scugog Soccer Associa- tion was the recent recipient of a $7,700 Ontario Trillium Grant to upgrade the clubhouse wash- rooms with low flush toilets, automatic sinks and hand dryers. Sue Wilkincon, SSA President, said, “We are already seeing a savings in water usage and expect savings of almost $2,000 a year which means a quick four year payback on this OTF investment.” The savings go directly to the local soccer club’s bottom line which helps keep their registra- tion fees low. Durham MPP John O'Toole added; “This grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation helps the soccer club save substan- tial amounts each year through greater efficiency in the use of water and paper towels in the newly renovated washrooms.
