Forman Fenian Raides THEY WENT TO WAR Exploring Port Perry's Military Past The men and women of the Township of Scugog have had to suffer through many military conflicts from the Fenian Raids of the late 1860s, through the Boer War, World War I and II, right through to the present day. The Heritage Centre will be highlighting local people who served in many dif- ferent wars. These include T.C. Forman (Fenian Raids), Harry Brock (Boer War) and Jimmy Frise who injured his hand at Vimy Ridge. Just in time for Remembrance Day, the Scugog Shores Museums will hold an exhibit honouring these soldiers and those they left behind. Using photos and arti- facts belonging to local people we will tell the stories of who those people were and how those difficult times affected lives here at home and abroad. The show will provide a collection of uniforms, badges, pins, and medals, as well as weapons ranging from swords to ahand grenade. The display will showcase different Canadian units: the RCAF, Royal Canadian Engineers, RCA (Artillery), as well as talk about Medical military personnel and the Mississaugas at war. On Sunday, November 11th, half of all admissions to the Mu- seum will be donated to the Royal Cana- Port Perry Salvage Inc. & DEMOLITION 132 Reach Industrial Park Rd., dian Legion Branch 419, Port Perry, and all veterans will be admitted for free.
