Local Scots will parade and party on Tartan Day to celebrate heritage Tartan Day, a day to celebrate Scottish heritage will take place in Port Perry on Monday, April 6. According to local organizer Stewart Bennett, Port Perry is still the only town in Canada celebrat- ing with a Tartan Day parade. “We are inviting you to get your tartans out and join us for a parade down Queen Street,” he said. The parade, led by the Uxbridge Legion Pipe Band and the 78th Fraser Highlanders, will start at Re- flection Park at 2 p.m. and proceed along Queen St. to Palmer Park. The participants will then make their way to the Port Perry Legion, on Bay St., for the official festivi- ties which includes music by Scotch Mist, highland dancing, clogging and Scottish country dancing. There will also be the traditional address to the haggis. Tickets for Legion entertainment and dinner are $20 each and are available at The Wee Tartan Shop, Port Perry.
