And two local musicians are shining in the limelight... Dressed in formal black, Scugog residents Sandy Weeks and Wendy Reville escape from the routine of their busy careers to per- form with the Durham Chamber Orches- tra. Musical Director Andrew J. Uranowski leads this volunteer group of part-time musi- cians acclaimed for performing everything from classical favourites to show tunes. Self-employed, Sandy has a demand- ing career as a human resources consultant, working for Fortune 500 companies. Since high school, her passion has been playing the flut Optician Wendy Reville is busy six days a week, professionally assisting customers at Port Perry Optical. Playing the cello is her way to relax. When Wendy turned 50, she decided to do something different as a tribute to her landmark birthday. She decided to learn to play the cello. The “beautiful soundtrack” in the movie Master and Command was her first inspiration. It featured master cellist Yo-Yo Ma, his music blending harmoniously with violins. Also inspiring was her trip to the Na- tional Ballet with her youngest daugh- ter. When a cellist performed Bach for 20 minutes, Wendy was “captivated.” When Wendy began taking cello lessons from Susanne Garriock, she never dreamed that within a year, she would be performing.
