Hot, healthy soup for a cool day “Soups on Us” returns October 23 As the days grow shorter and cooler weather approaches, there’s nothing quite like a hot bow] of soup to keep the belly full and warm — and “Soups on Us” is getting ready to dish up that warmth again this year. Starting on October 23, residents of Scugog are invited to drop by the “Soups on Us” kitchen, when the program kicks off it’s fourth season in Port Perry “Soups on Us” is organized by a local Parents’ Support Group and area churches. Volunteers from the churches and adults with special needs serve up delicious lunches every Thursday at the Church of Ascension hall, at 266 North St. “| know everyone involved loves this project” says Cathy Cooper of the Church of the Ascension. “We hope everyone in the community will drop by for a hearty homemade bow] of soup. We look forward to another season of great food, cama- raderie, and community service.” Volunteer Kathrine Follows says, “It’s souperific.” Soups on Us kicks off the 2014/2015 season on Thursday, October 23 and will run weekly from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until mid-March.
