The Forum is an i s for those who care for and care about seniors. here is no admission charge and there is plenty of space for people with walkers and wheelchairs to navigate around the room. Light refresh- ments will be available and door prize tickets will be provided to showcase all that is offered. “The Forum has two target mar- kets,” Martha explained. As well as being for seniors, the forum is also visitors whi lete a survey. For assistance with transpor- tation to the Seniors Information Forum via Durham Transit, contact Kim Cox at 905-985-7346, ext. 115. ‘First Nations Inspired’ theme for Mayor's Art Gala The theme of this years’ annual Mayor's Gala is “First Nations Inspired”, and grew from a desire to honour the contribution that Baagwating has made in our community and turn the spotlight on some traditional and contemporary art forms. The gala will take place on Thursday, November 6 and will be held at the Scugog Community Centre at 1655 Reach Rd., Port Perry. “The theme, First Nations Inspired, has been a tre- mendous creative source for everything about the Gala, from the décor to the menu. Not only will guests be en- tertained but they'll also have a taste of both traditional and contemporary First Nations culture. The entertainment will fea- enticing silent auction, gourmet dining, a live auction of unique experiences and numerous other delights. At the silent auction there will be a special feature of artworks from First Nations artists. Soup kitchen scooping up warm delicious lunches As the days grow shorter and cooler weather approaches, there’s nothing quite like a hot bowl of soup to keep the belly full and warm -and “Soups on Us” started scooping up their delicious warm recipes last week. Residents of Scugog and area are invited to drop by the “Soups on Us” kitchen, now in its fourth season in Port Perry “Soups on Us” is organized by a local Parents’ Support Group and area churches. Volunteers from the churches and adults with special needs serve up deli- cious lunches every Thursday at the Church of Ascen- sion hall, at 266 North St. “I know everyone involved loves this project” says Cathy Cooper. “We hope everyone in the community will drop by for a hearty homemade bowl of soup. We look forward to another season of great food, camaraderie, and community service.” Soups on Us will operate Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until mid-March. All are welcome.
