North Durham Concert Band to present magical ‘Sounds of the Season’ concert The North Durham Concert Band, under the direc- tion of Sarah Lynn Howie, is planning a new slate of music that ranges from seasonal classics to show tunes and movie themes, ranging from popular to jazz. The band is presently preparing the music for their annual Christmas concert “Sounds of the Season”. This delightful and affordable family event will be performed at Port Perry United Church on Wednesday, December 10, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission is by donation and light refreshments will be served. Originally founded as the North Durham Millenni- um Band in 1998 to celebrate the coming new Millenni- um, the North Durham Concert Band changed its name and purpose but has kept the same goal; to celebrate music and encourage Lion melee in the communities of Northern The North Durham Cert Band is comprised of approximately 25 brass, woodwind and percussion musicians who meet on Wednesday evenings, at RH Cornish Public School. The membership is highly diverse in skill, age and background. Members include teenagers, senior dt zens, new players, ional musicians, exp recreational musicians and those who are picking up an instrument after a long break. New members are always welcome. This year the band will also be performing in the Uxbridge Santa Claus Parade, at various senior centres and the Sunderland Music Festival. The North Durham Concert Band completes its sea- son in the Spring with a local concert, venue and time still to be determined. So whether you are in- terested in dusting off your musical instruments to join the band or in supporting the band by attending the ces, they would welcome your participa- tion.
