B, Phillips, E Bate, who had been summoned as a juror, was un- able to be present, CHAUFFEUR GUILTY CARELESS DRIVING Port Hope, Dec, 18--J, C, Ward of Toronto, driver of the large Ca- dillac sedan which crashed into the ditch and collided with a tree near the westerly limits of Port Hope on November 3rd, injuring himself and two other occupants of the car, was found guilty yesterday morning by Magistrate Campbell of driving in a manner dangerous to the public and was fined $15 and $31.80 costs, The accident occurred at noon on Noyember 3rd, when Ward claimed, he was crowded off the road by a truck, driven by Cezil Smith of Port Hope which came out of Victoria Lane into the highway. Miss Wag- Horne, and Miss Peggy McClaren, daughter of the owner of the car, and Ward, the chauffeur, were all removed to the Port Hope Hospital at the time, suffering from numerous injuries, BROTHER AND SISTER RECEIVE INJURIES Port Hope, Dec. 18--While return- ing home Saturday evening from practicing at Welgome for a Christ- mas Concert, Allan Bamsey, 15 year old son of Mr. 'and Mrs, Frank Bam- sey, who reside west of Port Hope sustained a broken leg when knocked off his bicycle by a car, and Esther, his seven year old sister, suffered a fractured arm. Allan was removed to the Port Hope Hospital, while Esther's injuries were attended at her home. The brother and sister were tra- velling easterly on the highway on a bicycle with the former operating the vehicle and the latter sitting on the cross bar. Some of the boys returning home from the Trail Rangers Club on Wednesday evening about 9.30 re- ceived quite a bad fright when on reaching Harmony corner they were confronted by a man who was either drunk or crazy. He stopped them and asked several questions and then tried to grab some of them. The boys quickly scampered out of his way and got home safely, although very badly (frightened.
