Prayer Meetings Wednesday and Saturday at 8 p.m. The Christmas Message! Once again our Though turn at the Yuletide season to the crown: ing revelation of God in Christ, The Christmas festival must always re- mind us of the wondrous love of the Father in sending His Son to earth to be our Saviour. At 'the same time it is a powerful reminder of God's condemnation of sin. The articles and stories through: out this issue are designed to il- lustrate the great message of Christmas--*He shall save His peo- ple from their sins." The birth of Christ, as we see it, was but the gateway to something much more tragicc We do not complete the Divine revelation till we stand in shame and horror be- fore the Cross and see Jesus hang: ing there and realize that this was the price paid for our Salvation: "Five bleeding wounds he bears, Received on Calvary, They pour effectual prayers, They strongly plead for me, Forgive them, oh, forgive they ery Nor let this ransomed sinner die" Christmas day is the beginning of the final revelation, but Good Friday is the end, The Incarna- tion is a fact of wonder, but the Atonement is a fact most wonder- ful, We rejoice at this season, therefore, because God sent forth His Son from Heaven for the Sal- vation of mankind. We do not speculate or argue about these great truths, We simply accept the Divine record that the Son of God has appeared, that His Name is Jesus, and that He came into the world to save sinners. : The Christmas Festival certainly takes us back to the tragic need of sinful man, and the ample supplies of heavenly grace. All the older carols of Christmas are carols of Salvation, If it had not 'been for Jesus we should still be in our sins. - We stress this point because the real message of Christmas is apt to festivities of the season. The spirit of Christmas we know, includes goodwill, gladness, service to the lowly, and peace on earth, but above all we should celebrate the season in joyously thanking God for His great Salvation and seeking to win others for the Kingdom. r= >: . ~ - - - v Morning! The following choice gem is from the writings of Dr. Morley Punshon at one time Minister of Simcoe Street Methodist Church and later of the Metropolitan Church, Toronto, This extract was kindly supplied The Times by Mr, D. Haverson: In the light of that morning, thousands of earnest eyes flash with renewed brightness, for they have longed for the coming of the day.
