Meetings in the ienement were exceedingiy informal, 'old-timers' of the district recall; in fact, they were so informal that usualy two leaders were required--one '© to keep order and onc to endeavor to lead the bible study. Two young men, Messrs, Schofield and Woon, were early workers in this at- tempt, and under Rev, H. M, Man- ning the work took a regular and progressive form. Rev, Mr, Man- ning came to Oshawa in 1913, and when his health failed a year later was succeeued by Rev, W. H. Truscott, who carried on the work for seven years, Under Rev, Mr. Manning a Sunday School and other work had been established, and when he retired from the work this minister presented the congregation with a site, Old Church Built Under Rey. Mr. Truscott the old church was erected, and to this were later added the Sun- day School hall and the Eirra Hall, In 1921 Rev, Mr. Truscott was succeeed by Rev. J. 8. Me- Mulien, Rev, Mr. Truscott went L0 the Bay circuit and later to West Huntingdon and after three years of work Rev. Mr. McMullen trans- ferred to Bel.eville, being suc- ceeded hy the present pastor, Rev R. A, Whattam, Under Mr. Whattam During the four and a haif years that Rev. Mr. Whattam has spent in Oshawa, the Albert street church congregation has developed as part of the United Church of Canada uncer the Oshawa City Mission and Church Extension Board. Rev. Mr. What.am is sup- erintendent and secretary of this Board, O. M. Alger is chairman, G, W. McLaughlin vice-chairman and A, W.
