The choir rendered beautiful music at both services. Sun- ja school held a helpful lesson per- iod for all. The regular monthly meeting of the Women's Missionary Society was held on Wednesday afternoon of last week at the church. The weather was not very favorable but neverthe- less a fairly large crowd attended. The meeting was in charge of Mrs. Horace Hancock's group and a good am was enjoyed by all. It was decided at this meeting that the W.M.S. would again be making quilts so all the ladies interested may watch for the date of the quilting. Follow- iug the program a social time was spent by all, with refreshments served by the group in charge. Mrs. Walter Snider has returned after a pleasant visit with relatives near Enterprise. The sympathy of the community is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Norman Down and family in the death of Mrs. Down's mother, Mrs, Allin, who assed away in Bowmanville on hursday last. We are sorry ta report that Mr. Arthur Pascoe is under the doctor's care, but at time of writing is slightly improved. he postponed meeting of the Mission Circle will be held on Thurs- day afternoon, February 21, at the home of Mrs. William Bickle. Stock is now being taken of the merchandise on hand, and Mr. Crothers expects to take possession in the near future, The play which the Kedron peo- ple gave here on Tuesday night was well presented and much en- joyed, so much so that we are looking forward to having a visit from the Kedron artists again. Last Saturday night there was a good crowd of about 100, and good ice. The nights for hockey are Mon- day, Wednesday and Friday; for skating Tuesday, Thursday and "Sa- turday nights. Mr. H. Wilson's house is shingled, wired and ready for plastering if the weather becomes warmer. KEDRON Kedron, Feb. 18.--The Columbus young people entertained the Ked- ron young people at a skating and Valentine party 'last Thursday evening. The early part: of the evening was spent in skating. The party .then gathered in the base- ment of the church where lunch was served by the Columbus young then held. About midnight the party broke up and. a hearty vote was tendered to the young people of Columbus for their splendid entertainment. Mr. F. W. Lee accompanied his daughter, Mrs. A. R. Scott and her two sons, to Arnprior, and is spend- ing a few days with relatives in Arnprior and Ottawa. Mrs. William Hepburn, Miss Lu- ella and Mr. Arthur Hepburn visit- ed Mr. Hislop, who is ill in Bow- manville, on Saturday. The early part of the evening was spent in playing progressive Lost Heir, Margaret Dearborn winning the ladies first prize, Ross Lee, the gentlemen's first prize, Beatrice Mountjoy, the ladies' consolation prize and Lorne Hoskin, the gentlemen's consola~ tion prize. Shortly before midnight lunch was served. A few games were thus indulged in, after which, the party broke up, all having spent a very enjoyable evening. rs. R. J. Mr, Nicholson, of Cannington, at the United Church. Slides, showing the birds in their natural color, accompanied the lecture, The large audience enjoyed a very in- structive and interesting entertain- ment. The lecture was given un< der the auspices of the Y.P. Society, The World Day of Prayer was observed in Port Perry by a united meeting of women in the parish hall of the Church of the Ascension on Friday afternoon, Feb. 15. The hall wag filled to capacity. The following members of the three congregations took part in the ser- vice--United church, Mrs, S. Baird, Mrs. G. A. Rose, Mrs. 8. Farmer, Mrs. B. The second game was between Toronto Bank of Commerce and Port Perry, Port Perry winning 4-2. Dr. and Mrs. David Archer, of Oshawa, visited Port Perry friends on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs H. G. Hutcheson entertained the entire staff of the Bank of Commerce, Port Perry, on Wednesday evening. Mr, and Mrs. W. McKinley and Miss Emma, visited Scugog friends on Sunday. We are glad to report that Miss Thora Kauffman, who has been laid up with a bad attack of tonsilitis is somewhat better. Brooklin, Feb, 16--We are sorry to. hear that last Thursday night thieves broke into Mr. James Rout- ley's hen house and stole about 30 of his hens and also the battery of his car. Miss Isaac is visiting Mrs. Boyes. We are very glad to hear that Miss Hazel Mowbray has recovered from her operation. Miss Elsie Robinson was home for the week end. Under the auspices of the Ladies' Guild of the Brooklin United Church a musical festival will be given by the York Singers of Toronto, on the 22nd. The program will consist of solos, duets, quartettes and readings and will be a real treat, which no one should miss. Rev. R. H. Richard, of Pickering, will deliver an address at the meet- ing of the Young Pepple's League on Tuesday evening, Feb. 19th. Rev. Mr. Rickard is a specialist in young people's work and there should be a full house to hear him. On Monday, March 4th, there will be a class in Home Nursing and First Aid given through the Women's In- stitute. Mrs, Lowe of Toronto will be the instructor. The course con- sists of ten lessons continuing two weeks. The classes are from 2 to 4.
