We are proud of the | progress it has made in these five years, progress which hasbeen ona the wonder and envy of other places which have seen themselves outstripped by this young city. Oshawa has grown industrially. It has grown in popula- tion, in wealth and size. And, keeping in pace withits growth materially, it has grown in its educational facilities, its oppor- tunities fo: the cultivation of the finer side of life, and for the spiritual and social well-being of its people. Oshawz can well be proud of its achievements of the last five years. But there must be no looking back. To dwell too much on the past, and to think too little of present opportunities and future possibilities is dangerous. : On this, its fifth birthday, Oshawa looks forward to a glorious future, The youthful city has not yet hit its stride. Possibilities for the development to be are magnificent, and it but needs a full determination on the part of its citizens to make the best of them to ensure the continued growth of Oshawa as a citys Oshawa has done well, but the youngster is just beginning to grow. Let' us all join in the hope that as the years pass that growth in every factor of the community life will be continued with ever-increasing momentum. bd /
