Swanson, , internationally known for his work in relief sculp- ture, has been selected to design the two bronze ize plagics marking the $22,- ssador Bridge linking Ly OB nited States and Canada and s evolved a plaque based on the theme of community of ideas and ideals between the two peoples. In the middle of the Plaque, standing erect, is an upward-looking figure with arms outstretched, bearing two shields and a band across the top. One shield carries a conventional ea- gle and stars and stripes, the other the familiar maple leaves, beaver and the Union Jack. In the field is the following text: "Ambassador Bridge: the visible expression of friendship in the hearts of two peoples with like ideas and ideals, 1929."
