The Canadian legs and heart and lungs carried the dim- inutive lad 26 miles 385 yards in two hours 3 minutes 8 4-6 seconds. They broke the record made ast year by Clarence Demar, six times winner, by almont four minutes. \liles incidentally acquired the Na- jonal Amateur Athletic Union's marathon championship, which goes over the border for a year to repose under the maple leaf with various other titles held by Percy W'lliams, Ethel Cathierwood, et al. Miles is the sixth Canadian to win the historic marathon and the second Canadian double winner. J. Caffrey of Hamilton won in 1900 and returned the next year to win again. Miles won in 1926, setting up a record which was voided when the course was measured and found short.
