General Motors of Oshawa are sponsoring the newly formed club, which will be known as the Gen- eral Motors Track and Field Club. This does not eliminate anyone in- terested in this line of athletivs, however, and any resident of this city is eligible to take an active or inactive part in the club. The meeting was. attended by close to seventy athletes, ex-ath- fetes and men interested in the fur- therment of the track and field sport in Oshawa. A nomination committee of ten men, one from many different departments of the Motors, were appointed and these ten will be busy getting nomina- tion for office, in order to be put before the next meeting of the Club. McKenzie, After discussing various lines of sport coming under the heading of a Track and Field Club, the large attendance was instructed by Mr. H. W, Nicoll, acting chairman, to attend the second conclave of this new club, to be held the first of next week, At this meeting the election of officers will take place and the club will officially come in- to effect. A, and the fact that it does repose in Oshawa is a fact that all lacrosse fans of this city should be proud to hroad- cast. That it 1s going to again rest here is, of course, not a certainty, but the players and officers of the General Motors' Lacrosse Club have a great deal of confidence in tuner ability to retain this coveted shield. The Globe Shield was put up in 1900 by the Teronto Globe to "bu played for annually and since that time it has visited nearly every city and town where lacrosse is treated with the respect due the oldest game in Canada.
