The superintendent, Mr. Kennedy, drew attention to the fact that the attendance was much larger than usual, and gave all a hearty in: vitation to attend regularly and bring others. Rev. Mr. Bunner of- fered the prayer. As nearly as pos- sible the Mother's Day Service was followed. The story, "The Quest," was read by Miss Alma Fice, Mr. Dennis pronounced the benediction. At the evening service, Rev. Mr. Bunner officiated. His entire mes- sage was about "Mothers." Mr, and Mrs. Kennedy sang a duet, "Remem- ber your Promise to Mother." The hymns were all old time hymns our parents' had sung. The announce- ments were, Prayer service Tuesday evening, Children's Christian Endea- vor on Friday at four o'clock, and the Young People's League Friday evening. PLACES OF WORSHIP CLOSED BY SOVIET Converted Into Clubs, Lib- raries, Reading Rooms and Hospitals Moscow, May 17.--Five hundred and thirty-two places of public wor- ship were closed in the soviet union in 1928. They were converted into clubs, public, schools, boarding houses, libraries and reading rooms, ambulators and hospitals, cultural centers, or museums. Two hundred and fifty-three more places are marked for similar eon: version this year but there will be plenty left for religious purposes.
