hawa Ba At Your Service N a previous announcement we explained to our readers the manner in which news | from all parts of the world was transmitted direct by leased wire to The Times office. We dwelt lightly upon the mechanism whereby this news was received, edited and printed in the columns of this newspaper, giving to its readers a service comparable to that of the great metropolitan dailies, We purpose in this issue to explain the method by which local news is gathered and to point out the: many features in The Times which are of interest to local readers. We would draw your attention to the thorough manner in which every bit of local news is collected, printed and distributed to the thousands of people who rightfully look upon The Times as the official mouthpiece of the community. OSHAWA THOROUGHLY COVERED It is natural that we should be interested in the things that most vitally concern us. In Oshawa we work, play and have our being. Anything that affects Oshawa affects all of us. We sorrow in our neighbor's sorrow; we rejoice in his good fortune. We, as a community, live not entirely unto ourselves, but anything that affects the even current of our community life is of moment to us all. Ou: interests are mutual. A trained staff of reporters, conversant in every detail with the local situation, is constantly zathering news. al politics, municipal affairs, Oshawa's social life, its sporting activities, every phase of our communal activity is thoroughly covered by our indefatigable newsgetters, Each of the many dep-rtments in The Times is under the supervision and direction of writers who thoroughly understand the topic which it is theirs to discuss. News from surrounding towns and villages is collected daily by staff reporters and correspon- dents who take pride and pleasure in their work. OUR EDITORIAL PAGE The editorial policy of The Times is one of studied impartiality. "The Women's Corner" cone tains, as its subhead implies, many useful items of interest to the homemaker and housekeeper. The comics are humorous, clean and entertaining and alike enjoyed by readers of every age. . The Sports Page contains complete up-to-the-minute accounts of local and outside sporting events. The classified advertising section is a profitable medium of communication between local buyers and sellers.
