SST (20¢) PRESENTATION TO ~~ ORONO TEACHER Miss Ethel Hoar Honored on Leaving the Com. § in: munit y Orono, July 25.--Mr. and Mrs. Marshall, of Toronto, were week- end guests at the home of Mr. H. Junker. A very pleasant evening was spent at the home of 'Mr. and Mrs. Will S. Cobbledick on Tuesday eve- ning, when about fifty of the friends of Miss Ethel Hoar gather- ed to bid farewell to a very popu- lar and efficient teacher. During the three years she has been here, she has made friends with the en- tire section. During the evening an address was read by Miss Le- nora Cooper, and the presentation of a beautiful silk umbrella was made by Master Jack Cobbledick. Dear Miss Hoar:-- We, the members of the sixth line section, have gathered here this evening to wish you God speed. You havé been with us three years and during that time you have given of yourself and your talents freely. You have taken your piece in the community life of the sec- tion and taken a whole-hearted in- terest in everything that pertain- ed to us. But more important sull you have carried on your vocation as a teacher in a splendid way. a school teacher, as everyone knows, has much more to do than to teach academic studies, and in these manifold duties you have endeared yourself to all. We now ask you to accept this slight token of our re- gard and our appreciation of your willing labors on our behalf. We hope that your sojourn among us has been pleasant for you, as it has been for us; and we sincerely trust that you will make many friends and be very successful in your new sphere of activities, nor soon forget the old Sixth Line. Signed on behalf of the pupils and Trustee Board, C. V. Cooper, G. R. Morton, W. 8, Cobbledick. Although taken completely by surprise, Miss Hoar made a fitting reply, .expressing her appreciation and thanking all for their good- will. After an impromptu program of music and speeches dainty refresh- ments of cake and ice cream and sandwiches were served, and a pleasant evening was brought to a close.
