Beginning at 10 o'clock and continuing all day, mu- sical concerts will be under way, including band competitions, bag- pipe contests, old-time fiddlers, vu- cal solos, violin solos, piano re- citals and dancing. : Foremost among the items will be the band contests, which are di- vided into three classes, for brass and reed bands and two classes for flute bands. Twenty-two banus will compete, the contests starting at 10 a.m, The Toronto Regiment band, un- der Lieut. Walter Murdoch, win compete with the Carbiniers Mont Royale, 65th Regiment of Mont- real, under J. J. Goulet. These are the only two entries in class A. In class B of the same category, brass and reed bands, six bands will com- pete, among which are the teu} and Dufferin regiment, Canadian Legion and Citizens' Band of Sud- bury, the Orillia Kilties, 1st. Weut- worth regiment, Hanover Concert band, and the Lincoln and Wellauu regiment. lass B will compete for the trophy presented by the Robert Simpson company, Nine entries are listed for Class C, also brass and reed. The tro- phy for this section has been pre- plies, Limited. In class C-2, the trophy of Beare and Son, for brass bands, there are five entries. In the flute band class, which is divided into Class A and B, the Ulster band will compete with the Wellington flute~ band, both wo: Toronto. Bagpipes and Fiddlers The bagpipe competitions which always attract huge crowds are di- vided into three classes and will get under way at 3.30 in the after- noon. Just prior to these will come the Old Time fiddlers who are also divided into two classes; Contest- ants who are over 50 and under 65 years of age, and those who are over 65 years. Sixty-three piano recitals will be heard in the Manufacturers' build- ing in the booths. of the varivus piano exhibitors. They will begin at 1 p.m, and continue until 9 yp. m. Musical hours will be held in the amphitheatre - of the Music building and will be divided into three sections, part 1-A arranged by Emily Taylor of Trinity Col- lege of Music, London, England: part 1-B choral selections: by the part 2, dancing by the pupils of the Nora Grifithsg studio. The program arranged by the Hambourg Conservatory of Musie and the Ysaye studios will start at 3 and continue until 3:50, Th will be followed by a dance recital by the pupils of the Fanny V. Bird- sall studio and at 4 p.m. by a pro- gram arranged by the Toronto Con- servatory of music. Pupils of the Sternberg studio of dancing will then give a recital until 5.560 p.m., when Louise M. Wisener will pre= sent a special program demonstrac- ing educational concerts avaimoie in schools. A recital by the puphs of the Edith M. Giles school of dancing will then conclude this sec- tion of the program. During the day, troubadors in costume will appear in all parts of the grounds, singing or appearing on temporary platforms erected at points of vantage.
