May I remind you that in exercising your franchise you are discharging one of the highest and most responsible duties of citizenship. For this reason 1 earnestly urge the electors to go to the polls and record their cons victions on the issues of the present election. It has been my privilege and that of my colleagues to serve you during the past six years in carrying on the traditions of good Government established under Liberal-Conservative auspices with the co-operation and goodwill of all elements of the community. We believe that Governments exist to carry out the wishes of the people, and that our sound British institutions can best be administered and preserved by an active public opinion registering itself in the appointed consti- tutional way. For this reason we have chosen to consult the people at this time and to submit our plans for their determination. During the past few weeks facts and con siderations have been presented to you which we submit justify a further extension of the confidence enjoyed by the present Government, We are happy in being able to present a record of clean and capable administration free from any taint of suspicion, and of much legislation initiated by this Government for the moral, social, intellectual and material welfare of the people. To authorize the extension of good voads throughout the agricvdtural di ricts of the Province for the benenit of both the rural and urban populations, To maintain, strengthen and give stability to the control of the sale of liquor, and to improve the, legislation in the interests of tem. perance and sobriety under the responsibility of the Government, To provide for the extension of education to the boys and girls in the country close to their homes by means of additional provincial aid, since the control of the schools must be left with the ratepayers whose financial burdens should not be increased on this account, I am deeply grateful for the confidence you have reposed in my colleagues and myself. In asking you to renew that confidence, I can assure . you that our sole aim is to serve you faithfully and usefully in the future as in thepast.
