The cabin plane plunged to earth from an altitude of about 200 feet, near Fairfax airport, and burst into flames. The five-passenger 'Travelair plane, second section of the regu- lar 3 p.m. flight out of Wichita, dipped suddenly into a nose-dive at the low altitude and plunged into the dense undergrowth about 3,000 feet from the airport and burst in- to flames. P. H. Brown, of Kansas City, who was waiting the arrival of a passenger on the plane, said he first saw the plane almost a mile away flying at an altitude of ap- proximately 200 feet. "It appeared that the pilot was going to come on in on the same level and make a nice landing," he added, "Suddenly almost before anyone could tell what was happening, the plane swuhg downward in a sharp nose-dive and without any altera- tion of its course plunged to earth about 3,000 feet from the field. "The plane burst into flames at once and was soon destroyed." Bad Freight Wreck Little Falls, N.Y.--Thirty-two cars of two freight trains were de- railed at Indian Castle, seven miles east of here, Monday, in one of the worst freight wrecks in the history of the Mohawk division, west shore line of the New York Central rail- road. No one was injured. A bro- ken truck on an east-bound train, railroad officials said, threw. the cars of fthe rails. The engineer of a west bound freight applied the air brakes to avoid the wreck and ditched five cars of his train. -------------------- 1f you fail tg see the point in some of our pa s, don't worry about it. TRIMMED ORONO Score Was "105 -- Locals Now Have Chance to Compete in Play-offs Whitby O.H.A. Intermcdiates in- vaded the peaceful and pretty vill- age of Orono on Monday night and in a league fixture doubled the score on, the puck-chasing aggrega- tion of that village. The game was played in the new covered arena-- one of the finest to be found in any place of Orono"s size, and drew a fair crowd, the majority of the spectators coming from Whitby. The locals were surprised at the meagre support given the hockey team in Oromo, hut when it is pointed out that every game played this season has been lost, the sit- uation is better understood. The game was fast and the ice good. The Whitby players found themselves handicapped on a smal- ler ice surface, but nevertheless they dished up good hockey and experienced very little difficulty in scoring a decisive victory.
