To Heav'n give praise He does! He does! songless, HOGS AND DAIRYING (From the Brantford Expositor) Canada imported in 1929 about thirty million pounds of butter. Den mark, Holland and Sweden imported Canadian grain, made butter and us- ing the skim and . butter milk for their hogs, continued to dominate the markets of Britain and other pork buying nations. That thirty million pounds of butter * roughly would be obtained from 714,750,000 pounds of milk; if Canada made her own butter that quantity of extra milk would have to be produced; but nearly 700,000,000 pounds of 'skim and butter milk would remain for hog feed. This fed as is customary hv expert hog breeders now bring on 657,000 hogs, together with the grain now exported to the three countries above named. That means Canada has eighty million pounds of bacon to send to Britain. The ahove is a very brief condensation of a long but itneresting story told by thc Canadian Meat Packers. It is es- timated that fifty million pounds of butter will be imported into Canada this year. disconsolate |, I HAVE GONE SEEKING By Verne Bright I have gone seeking myriad-vasagea gods In Samarkand and the islands of the sea; In wine-dark Thrace and the vales of Arcady; ' In Nashipur where golden Buddha nods; In the many-towered edifice of Fame Over the Mountains of the Moon where the blind wind beats Through panther-haunted® forests; down brokens trects Of jungle-strangled cities with no name.
