The plant is a massive building, and is of a type particularly suited to the class of industry that will occupy it. "I think that the construction of this large factory, in just over four months, was a fine accomplishment in view of the severe winter we have had," said C. V. Giffin, genearl man- ager of the Ferguson Contracting Co. | of Toronto, general contractors on the building. : The contract for the job was let in the latter part of September, and immediately the Ferguson company started work on the building. Ro- bert Taylor was placed in charge of construction and under his leadership the work has progressed steadily. xcavation The excavation sub-contract was awarded to the Orsini Company, of Toronto. A giant steam shovel made fast work of shovelling out the cel- lar for the job. May Increase Line Here The coming of the Skinner Co. plant to Oshawa might mean mote to the city than first imagined, Mr. Cornell declared. Negotiations were at present being carried on in the United 'States by the Houdaille- Hershey Corporation to purchase an American company specializing in the || mafiufacture of certain automobile e parts. The Skinner Co. was backed by a strongly financed cot- poration whose policy was advance- ment for all its divisions. = There might come a day when the operas tions. of its Oshawa plant would be increased. F. L. Mason Speaking on behalf of the manu» facturers, stated Frank L. Mason, sccretary-treaseurer of the Pedldar People Ltd. and chairman of the Public Utilities Commission} "We welcome you to the city of Oshawi. 1t is a good municipality to locate in and we have some facilities which are unsurpassed."
