CHARGE Action Against Bowman ville Lawyer Followed Highway Crash Ross Strike, a well-known bar- rister of the town, was acquitted of the charge of reckless driving Inid against him as th result of an accident on the Kingston road on the evening of May 16th last. A great deal of contradictory evi- dence was heard In the hearing of the case from a number of wits nevses as to the cause of the crash, His Worship, Magistrate Ward, found that, as there was grounds for doubt that the accused was io blame for the accident, Mr, Strike should be set free of the. charge. The charge arose out of an Automobile accident on the King- ston Highway, two miles west of Bowmanville on the evening of May 16th last. Mr, Strike was re- turning from a laymen's banquet in St. Andrew's Church, Oshaws, and was accompanied by Mr, C. Mason, A truck that had tire trouble was parked on the side of the highway and as it was raining very heavily at the time visibility was bad. Mr, Strike saw the man with a lantern, who had gone out {0 warn passing motorists, on the side of the road and took him for & pedestrian but noticed the truek in time to apply his brakes.
